What’s a “sun dog”?
“An example of parhelia, sun dogs are triggered by sunlight being refracted (bent) off hexagonal ice crystals about 25,000 feet above the ground. Cirrus clouds act as billions of microscopic prisms, bending white light into the colors of the rainbow. Pretty cool.”

And so we vacillate between anxious self-branding and the self-negating practice of seeking some higher authenticity: we have to watch ourselves become ourselves in order to be ourselves, over and over again. This futile process crystallizes in the irrepressible ideal of youth, the time when all that reflexivity seemed like second nature, was authenticity itself.

Medicaid and Medicare have not caused our rising health care costs but are victims of our fragmented and failed market-based model of health care financing. Shifting the cost of health care from the taxpayer to the patient will not magically make these health care costs disappear or become sustainable.

Responses from People More Eloquent than I:

“This is not a serious person, even if he’s a Serious Person.” - Paul Krugman - NYTimes.com

“Rep. Ryan’s comments show his true lack of understanding of single payer health care and the effect of health care costs on the economy. Rationing exists in the U.S. right now but it is done in the cruelest possible way — based on ability to pay. While people do wait in lines for elective care in some countries, there are at least 51 million people in the U.S. who can’t even get in line. “As my testimony and this Congressional briefing argue, we cannot adequately address the deficit without effectively controlling health care costs and single payer is the most fiscally responsible way to finance universal and comprehensive health care.” - Margaret Flowers from Physicians for a National Health Program

About

Full name? Daniel Shu Hung. My friends call me, Dan Hung, and I'm easily found on the web as "danhung." Not too creative am I?

Who am I? By day, I'm an investor in healthcare and technology companies. By night, I do my best to not be "that guy."
